Matt Gogel, a 55-year-old member of the PGA Tour Champions, has been suspended for six months after it was discovered he placed small recreational bets on PGA-sanctioned tournaments during 2024 and 2025. Gogel asserted that he never wagered on events in which he was a participant, emphasizing that his actions did not target regular PGA Tour or Champions competitions. The PGA Tour acknowledged his admission, stating that while he avoided betting on his own events, the conduct still violated the organization’s integrity program.
The tour highlighted Gogel’s full cooperation during the review process. The suspension, which started on Sunday, will run through February 22, 2027 and applies to all Tour-sanctioned events. Gogel, who won the 2002 Pebble Beach Pro-Am and previously worked as a commentator for The Golf Channel and one outlet, currently sits 20th in the Charles Schwab Cup points race with earnings exceeding $760,000 this season.
