Matthieu Pigasse vows to stay in the presidential race and push for left-wing unity

Matthieu Pigasse, a prominent investment banker and supervisory board member of Groupe one outlet, missed the chance to participate in the social-democratic primary but declared he will not abandon the presidential contest. Speaking on France Inter, he described the existing primary as a “co-optation” system where candidates effectively choose each other and their electorate. Pigasse said he will keep all options open, aiming to be useful by illustrating that disruptive policies can be enacted, referencing his role in the cancellation of public debt.

He identified three battles for the election: preventing the far-right from gaining power, working toward a united left, and proving that bold reforms are feasible. The businessman also responded to criticism over a costly holiday on the island of Moustique in the Antilles, admitting his substantial wealth and insisting that the richest should contribute more to society.
