Mayawati demands Ashok Siddharth quit politics before Akash Anand regains party duties

At a recent party meeting, BSP national president Mayawati stipulated that Ashok Siddharth must take a complete political sabbatical before Akash Anand can be entrusted with significant duties again. Siddharth, a former Rajya Sabha member, was expelled in August over alleged anti-party actions. Mayawati had already reduced Akash's role to that of an ordinary worker in early September, citing a need for greater maturity.

She reaffirmed the party’s decision to contest upcoming elections without alliances and criticized the Congress and RSS. In parallel, she signaled that her younger nephew Ishan Anand, 27, might be appointed to oversee two major party sectors, marking his first formal responsibility. Several expelled leaders, including Randhir Singh Beniwal and Dharamveer Ashok, have also been reinstated to strengthen the BSP’s national and state structures ahead of the 2027 elections.
