Mayawati replaces Akash Anand with nephew Ishan as BSP national coordinator

The Bahujan Samaj Party announced a leadership reshuffle at its headquarters in Lucknow, installing Ishan Anand as national coordinator while stripping his elder brother Akash Anand of all duties. The decision was taken during a national executive session chaired by party president Mayawati, a four-time former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Ishan, a recent LLM graduate, addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude to Mayawati and invoking the legacies of B R Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram.

Akash, who had previously served as chief national coordinator, was absent and has been fully released from party responsibilities. The move follows Mayawati's earlier criticism of Akash's maturity and alleged influence from their father-in-law Ashok Siddharth, a former BSP Rajya Sabha MP. Ishan and Akash are sons of Anand Kumar, Mayawati's younger brother and BSP vice-president, and have a sister named Deepika Anand.
