Mayor Bally Bagayoko faces police vehicle‑damage complaint and €100,000 regional invoice amid Saint‑Denis school protests

A police officer filed a complaint alleging that Mayor Bally Bagayoko struck her immobilised car during a protest outside Paul‑Éluard lycée in Saint‑Denis. Prosecutor Alexandre de Bosschère opened a formal investigation into the alleged damage. Regional president Valérie Pécresse said she will bill the mayor €100,000 for repairs to the school gate and related security and cleaning expenses.

The mayor has denied that he started a trash‑bin fire near the school, saying he tried to smother it with a cardboard bag to protect the youths and allow firefighters to act. LFI deputies, including Manuel Bompard, defended the mayor, while critics such as Laurent Wauquiez and Bruno Retailleau called his actions irresponsible.
