Mayor Katie Hemmer Balances City Hall, Airport Directorship and High School Golf Coaching

Katie Hemmer, Jamestown's mayor and airport director, remains the head coach of the local high school's girls golf team for a fourth consecutive season. After elections in June, she balances municipal responsibilities with coaching duties, using color-coded scheduling to stay organized. The team started practice on Aug. 10 and will compete first at Rolla Country Club on Aug. 14, followed by the East-West Classic on Aug. 17-18, which draws every Class A team in the state.

Hemmer hopes to hire an assistant coach to cover beginner players and alleviate her workload. Expected to field ten golfers, the squad relies on sophomore Braelyn Wiese as its leading competitor and senior Ivy Cordell to provide veteran leadership. The fall season runs through early October with eight tournaments, a regional meet on Sept. 28 and the state championship on Oct. 5-6.
