Mayor Mamdani launches $100 US Open ticket lottery for NYC residents
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is offering 1,000 residents the chance to buy US Open tickets for $100 each, far below resale prices.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani unveiled a lottery that will grant 1,000 New York City residents tickets to the US Open for a fixed price of $100 each. The offer includes seats in both Arthur Ashe and Louis Armstrong Stadiums and a grounds pass, covering the tournament’s main-draw matches from August 30 through September 8. Interested participants must have a ZIP code in one of the city’s five boroughs and can submit their request online beginning at 10 a.m. EST on August 26, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Winners are allowed to purchase a ticket for themselves and a guest. The US Tennis Association is partnering with the mayor’s office, while resale platforms such as Ticketmaster list comparable tickets for $240 to nearly $500. This initiative follows Mamdani’s recent efforts to provide affordable access to major sporting events, including discounted World Cup tickets and special-price Broadway seats for high school students.
