Mayor orders investigation after massive illegal Pogo bust in Zamboanga Sibugay

Alicia mayor Ardin Musa has launched a probe into unlawful Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations after more than 200 foreign nationals were arrested in coordinated raids.

In the coastal towns of Alicia and Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay, a combined operation by the Bureau of Immigration, the National Bureau of Investigation and armed forces resulted in the capture of 244 people linked to illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations, marking the largest bust of its kind this year. Most of those seized are Chinese nationals, and 51 have been transferred to Manila for possible human-trafficking investigations.

Alicia mayor Ardin Musa announced that his administration condemns the presence and growth of Pogo venues, emphasizing that economic development must not compromise public safety or moral standards. He ordered local police, barangay leaders and the Business Permits and Licensing Office to conduct an immediate and comprehensive inquiry into any related enterprises. Musa warned that any confirmed violations will be met with full legal action to protect the community, especially vulnerable groups such as children.
