MCA leader says talks with BN remain inconclusive ahead of Melaka election
MCA chief Wee said no agreement has been reached with BN after a cordial meeting, and further talks are needed before the state election.
In a statement, MCA president Wee clarified that the recent meeting with BN figures Zahid, secretary-general Zambry Abd Kadir and Melaka BN chief Ab Rauf Yusoh did not produce a binding agreement on contesting seats for the Melaka state election. While the encounter was described as cordial, Wee emphasized that the party remains dissatisfied with how seats were allocated and warned that labeling the talks as positive is premature.
He called for continued dialogue over the next day or two, hoping for a breakthrough. Any decision on MCA's participation and strategy will be taken collectively by its central leadership. Earlier, Zahid had asserted that MCA would not sit out the November 14 polls, following a walkout by MCA leaders after BN announced its candidate list.
Why it matters
The outcome will affect coalition dynamics and candidate distribution in the crucial Melaka state election.
