McConnell’s health updates coincide with falling resignation odds

Senator Mitch McConnell, who was hospitalized after a fall on June 14 and later spent time in a rehabilitation center, was released from rehab on Aug. 6. His office has repeatedly clarified that he did not suffer a heart attack or stroke, despite a 911 call mentioning cardiac concerns. Betting platform Kalshi reports that the probability of McConnell leaving his seat before the November 3 elections has dropped to six percent as of Aug. 25, down from a peak of 48.8 percent in February. The market’s shift follows multiple health incidents and a July 12 photograph that suggested he plans to stay in office.
