McDonald's crew ties the knot in restaurant, turning fast-food site into a wedding venue
Two employees at a Northeast Ohio McDonald's exchanged vows on the restaurant floor, serving guests and even handing out sauces in wedding attire.
Jamie Callicoat, a manager, married crew trainer George Callicoat at the McDonald's where they both work in Akron, Ohio, converting the dining room into a makeshift chapel while keeping the kiosks and drive-thru operational. Employees supplied a wedding cake, catered dishes such as pulled barbecue chicken and homemade rigatoni, and even used a Happy Meal box for the flower girl’s petals. Throughout the ceremony, the bride handed extra sauces to a customer in her wedding dress, and patrons continued to place orders.
The celebration was captured on video, generating over 20 million impressions across Instagram and Facebook, according to the regional McDonald’s franchise. The couple returned to work the following Tuesday, receiving congratulations from coworkers, managers and the cash-collection team. General manager Tammy Snider described the occasion as a community-building story that highlighted the restaurant’s role beyond serving food.
