McDonald's Korea launches gochujang-flavored chicken burgers with G-Dragon across Asia
McDonald's Korea introduced two gochujang-butter chicken burgers, fronted by K-pop star G-Dragon, and will roll the menu out to 13 Asian countries.
McDonald's Korea has rolled out a new menu featuring two chicken burgers—McCrispy Gochujang Butter with a Cajun-seasoned thigh patty and McSpicy Gochujang Butter with a spicy breast patty—both served with a gochujang-butter sauce and Colby Jack cheese. The launch is tied to a marketing campaign fronted by K-pop icon G-Dragon, covering 13 Asian markets and beginning Thursday in countries including China, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Local franchises will tailor the offering to regional preferences while keeping the core sauce concept. In addition to the food, the partnership will produce limited-edition apparel and accessories through G-Dragon’s fashion label Peaceminusone, with further announcements slated for later in the month. McDonald’s Korea says the initiative showcases growing global interest in Korean flavors among younger consumers. The campaign marks the first export of a menu concept developed in Korea to other Asian territories.
Why it matters
The launch shows how global brands are leveraging Korean pop culture and flavors to attract young consumers across Asia.
