McIlroy finishes 66th at FedEx St. Jude, eyes BMW Championship

Rory McIlroy concluded the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis with a 66th-place finish, improving on his 2024 tie for 68th at TPC Southwind. After a double bogey to start the final round and a five-over start through six holes, he managed several birdies and felt some encouraging signs in his ball-striking. The Irishman said the tournament offered a chance to regain competitive rhythm before the BMW Championship in St. Louis.

Earlier in the week he spoke with Tour CEO and commissioner Brian Rolapp about satisfying the Tour’s 15-start minimum, expressing confidence a solution could be reached. McIlroy will fly home to South Florida to fine-tune his swing with coach Michael Bannon before heading to Missouri for the next event.
