McKinsey removes Australian senior partner from research leadership after glass-cliff remarks
McKinsey & Co. stripped senior partner Chris Bradley of his leadership role at the McKinsey Global Institute following online comments that dismissed the glass-cliff theory.
McKinsey & Co. announced that Chris Bradley, an Australian senior partner and director at the McKinsey Global Institute, has been removed from his leadership duties at the research arm. The decision came after an internal review of a LinkedIn discussion where Bradley criticized the concept of a "glass cliff" for women executives. While he retains his senior-partner status, his roles on the institute and other internal committees have been taken away.
McKinsey spokesperson Taylor Burns said the remarks did not meet the company's conduct expectations. Bradley’s comments, which called the glass-cliff idea "a very convenient way to always be a victim in the rain," were deleted prior to the firm's response. The firm has a long history of publishing research on women’s workplace challenges.
