Mechanic killed when Mack semi-truck rolls backward at Long Island repair shop
A mechanic died after a semi-truck being serviced at Gabrielli Truck Sales in Hicksville rolled backward and crushed him.
Police say the accident happened just before 3 p.m. on Labor Day while the employee was working on a Mack tractor-trailer. The vehicle unexpectedly moved in reverse, pinning the worker, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not determined why the truck moved and do not suspect foul play. The case remains under investigation.
