A 24-year-old MBBS student was discovered dead on the lawn of Dr Sonelal Patel Medical College hostel in Pratapgarh, prompting a police probe.

On Sunday morning, a 24-year-old MBBS student from the 2024 cohort was found dead on the hostel lawn of Dr Sonelal Patel Medical College in Pratapgarh, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (East) Alok Kumar. The discovery, made around 8 am, led police and a forensic team to the site, after which the body was dispatched for a post-mortem examination. Investigators are now interrogating fellow residents and other students to piece together the events leading to the death.

This case comes shortly after a separate incident at Muzaffarnagar Medical College, where a 23-year-old final-year student was found hanging in her locked hostel room, also prompting a police investigation.
