Meerut man arrested for murdering second wife after birth of son

Police in Meerut detained a 30-year-old man accused of killing his second wife, Sheeba, 18 months after she gave birth to their son.

Meerut rural police arrested 30-year-old Mohd Sadiq on suspicion of murdering his second wife, Sheeba, whose remains were found near the Sardhana police station. CCTV footage helped confirm her identity, and Sadiq reportedly confessed that his two brothers, Mohd Aabid and Mohd Shadab, his first wife Aasiya, and his mother Wasila assisted in the crime. Sheeba, who had a daughter from an earlier marriage, left her first husband three years ago and married Sadiq, who initially faced family opposition but later accepted her after she bore a son 18 months earlier.

Disputes over her daughter led her to return to her parents, after which she began posting videos against Sadiq. He later convinced her to travel with him, his first wife, and his mother, during which he strangled her in a car, discarded the body in a field, and attempted to conceal her identity with bricks. Sadiq is now in custody, while his brothers and other alleged accomplices have fled.
