Mehbooba Mufti labels herself a “dimagi Naxal” as NC blames PDP for Article 370 removal

Mehbooba Mufti, president of the PDP, used her X account to describe herself as a “dimagi Naxal” after Union minister Kiren Rijiju explained that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s similar remark was not aimed at opposition figures. Mufti’s self-identification stemmed from her continued support for Article 370, the provision that granted Jammu & Kashmir special status. National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar responded, asserting that Article 370 remains part of the Constitution and condemning the conflation of the article with the “dimagi Naxal” term as disrespectful.

Dar also blamed the PDP for the 2019 abrogation, citing the party’s 2015 coalition with the BJP as the catalyst. NC legislator Tanvir Sadiq echoed this view, holding the PDP-BJP alliance responsible for the constitutional change. The dialogue highlights ongoing political tensions over the region’s special status and the legacy of the 2019 decision.
