Mekar programme clears 184 Orang Asli registration cases in Kelantan’s remote villages
The National Registration Department’s Mekar initiative resolved 184 documentation matters for Orang Asli residents in Gua Musang, including ID replacements and new MyKid applications.
In Gua Musang, the National Registration Department (NRD) completed 184 documentation cases for the Orang Asli population under its Menyemai Kasih Rakyat (Mekar) programme. The resolved matters included 101 identity-card replacements, 61 MyKid applications, 15 first-time ID requests, five changes to ID details, and two birth-certificate amendments. Conducted within the Kembara Be Ades Ma Kampung initiative in the Galas state constituency, the programme also provided registration advice to 270 residents.
NRD director Halimatusaadiah Ramli @ Mohd Shah said the outreach makes NRD services more accessible in remote areas. Orang Asli housewife Lela Rosli, whose husband earns only RM100-RM150 a month, said the service allowed her to replace her 15-year-old son Hadi Ifri Abdullah’s ID without the previous financial and travel burdens. The effort demonstrates how targeted government outreach can improve civil-service delivery for marginalized communities.
