Melaka government earmarks over RM196 million for school upgrades and student aid
The Melaka state administration has set aside more than RM196 million for school infrastructure and educational support through its MeSRa programme.
Melaka’s state government has allocated in excess of RM196 million to improve school buildings and provide educational aid through the Melaka Sayang Rakyat (MeSRa) initiative. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof highlighted that the budget includes a human-capital empowerment programme that benefits more than 140,000 children across the state. He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening education via high-impact policies.
The funding was unveiled during the Sentuhan Kasih Ketua Menteri Melaka MeSRA Education Programme ceremony for the 2026 SPM and STPM examinations, with state Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman present. At the event, 308 SPM candidates, 220 STPM candidates and 95 teacher mentors attended in person, while over 11,000 candidates joined online via YouTube and Google Meet.
