Meloni travels to Oslo to deepen Italy-Norway energy and mineral partnership

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived in Oslo for a high-level visit aimed at strengthening Italy's ties with Norway. She is scheduled to meet Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and later join a dinner with Italian and Norwegian business representatives to promote bilateral investment. The Italian delegation includes the CEOs of defence conglomerate Leonardo and shipbuilder Fincantieri.

The agenda focuses on deepening collaboration in energy and critical minerals, building on the existing link where Italy's Eni controls a majority of Vaar Energi. In addition, the leaders plan to discuss broader international topics such as the situation in Ukraine and developments in the Arctic, which Rome views as a key area for future cooperation. The trip follows Meloni's recent trips to Algeria and Azerbaijan to secure gas supplies amid market volatility linked to the US-Iran conflict.
