Meloni unveils school decree measures to boost resources and support families
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni presented the new School Decree, highlighting funding for textbooks, disability support, anti-cyberbullying initiatives and technical-vocational reforms.
On 24 September, the Council of Ministers approved a School Decree that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni promoted as a comprehensive package for students and their families. The plan earmarks money to ensure free or partially free textbooks and to grant direct contributions to households. It seeks to enhance assistance for pupils with disabilities, guaranteeing more precise programming of support hours and smoother transitions between educational stages.
The decree also dedicates funds to combat cyberbullying and curb school abandonment for the 2026-2027 academic year. Technical and vocational schools will be rebranded as technological and professional lyceums, with extra resources for related campuses, aiming to align education with labour-market needs.
