Menendez brothers' parole hearing moved up to March 2027

Erik Menendez, 55, and Lyle Menendez, 58, convicted of the 1989 shotgun killings of their parents in Beverly Hills, have been granted a parole suitability hearing in March 2027, advancing the date by one year from the previously expected August 2028. The acceleration results from two clauses in Proposition 9 that permit earlier hearings when new information or changed circumstances suggest parole suitability. After being resentenced to life with parole eligibility in May 2025, the brothers were denied parole last year.

Their family highlighted the brothers' long-term efforts to accept responsibility, assist in hospice programs, and create community projects, expressing gratitude to the Parole Board. Both men remain incarcerated at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.
