Mercedes-Benz Australia introduced the 2027 GLE450e plug-in hybrid, available as a five-seat SUV and a Coupe, with base prices of $156,900 and $160,900 before on-road costs. The powertrain combines a 240 kW 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine with a 135 kW electric motor, delivering 320 kW and 680 Nm to all wheels via a nine-speed automatic. Acceleration to 100 km/h is claimed at 5.6 seconds, and the 25.7 kWh battery offers an electric range of 87 km (SUV) or 91 km (Coupe).
Buyers can add a $1,100 fast-charging option for a 29-minute 10-80 % charge, while standard AC charging fills the pack in 2 h 45 min. The GLE450e is priced marginally above the BMW X5 xDrive50e and below the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, reflecting growing demand for plug-in hybrids, which have risen 124.2 % year-to-date in Australia. Standard equipment includes LED lighting, AMG Line styling, a head-up display, Burmester sound, and advanced driver-assist features.
