Met Police deploy over 800 officers in dawn raids, arrest 17 suspected organised crime figures
More than 800 Met officers carried out early-morning raids on 24 properties across London and four counties, arresting 17 people linked to a suspected organised-crime network; one officer was stabbed in the leg.
Early on Tuesday, a large-scale Met Police operation deployed over 800 officers to storm 24 premises in London and the counties of Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. The raids resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals accused of senior involvement in serious organised crime and associated financial wrongdoing. During the execution of a warrant at a property in Cockfosters, Barnet, an officer was stabbed in the leg; colleagues and paramedics provided immediate care before he was taken to hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life-changing.
The operation concluded months of intensive work by specialist detectives in partnership with HM Revenue & Customs and the Financial Conduct Authority, which has also targeted seven firms and is pursuing a further 30. Ongoing searches continue at several sites, and a visible police presence is expected to remain for days. Officials emphasized that the bust underscores a determined effort to prevent organised crime groups from operating freely and to protect communities from related violence and exploitation.
Why it matters
