Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg acquires historic 440-acre Irish castle estate

Mark Zuckerberg, chief executive of Meta, and his spouse Priscilla Chan have secured ownership of Strancally Castle, a 440-acre estate in County Waterford, Ireland. While the exact purchase price was not disclosed, one outlet approximates the property's worth at €20 million to €30 million. A spokesperson confirmed the family’s enthusiasm for preserving the historic site and using it as a base during trips to the country, where Meta maintains its international headquarters.

The castle, constructed in 1830 for former Conservative MP John Keily and designed by architects James and George Richard Pain, was previously held by Michael Alen-Buckley, co-founder of RAB Capital, and his wife Giancarla, who carried out extensive restorations after buying it in the early 2000s. Their statement expressed gratitude for the opportunity to safeguard the estate and welcomed the Zuckergens’ commitment to its upkeep. The purchase underscores the deepening ties between Zuckerberg’s personal holdings and Meta’s operational footprint in Ireland.
