Meta cuts ties with Virtue AI hires after four months

Meta has let go of the team it recruited from AI safety startup Virtue AI just four months after they joined, citing mismatched work styles.

The employees from Virtue AI, hired in June, were dismissed by Meta, according to spokesperson Andy Stone. Stone said the collaboration did not work out as intended and blamed differing work approaches. The move underscores Meta’s ongoing adjustments to its AI and safety strategy amid rising regulatory scrutiny. Meta’s Superintelligence Labs will continue focusing on AI safety, alignment and frontier risk. Virtue AI’s founders Bo Li, Dawn Song and Sanmi Koyejo had previously collaborated with firms such as Anthropic and OpenAI.
