Meta releases a dedicated Mac desktop app for its AI assistant

Meta has introduced a standalone desktop application for Meta AI on macOS, aimed at business users and creators.

Meta announced a macOS-specific desktop client for its Meta AI assistant, extending the service’s reach beyond the existing website and mobile apps. The program lets users broadcast portions of their screen so the AI can reference on-screen content and deliver tailored answers, a function marketed toward businesses and creators. Professionals with Facebook and Instagram accounts can link the assistant to Google Workspace and draw on documents, spreadsheets, and Meta’s internal analytics and advertising platforms.

According to Meta, the tool can answer queries using data from a user’s own account performance as well as publicly available brand insights. The application is offered at no cost, but more sophisticated features are gradually being limited for users without a Meta One plan. The rollout follows Meta’s broader effort to embed AI tools into its ecosystem, including a recently launched AI coding agent.

Why it matters

The app gives businesses a new way to leverage AI for content creation and ad management directly from their Mac computers.
