Meta releases Threads app for Quest virtual reality headsets

Meta has introduced a native Threads application for its Quest VR devices, extending the social platform into virtual reality.

Meta unveiled a dedicated Threads client for its Quest line of virtual-reality headsets, enabling the full range of social features such as browsing timelines, creating posts, reacting, replying, searching profiles and streaming video inside a VR environment. The move builds on the earlier launch of Threads for Ray-Ban Display AR glasses and comes after the service reported 500 million monthly active users. According to Meta, the Quest app is intended to increase social interaction while users are immersed in games, watching shows or handling everyday tasks.

The company highlighted that the native VR experience aims to keep conversations flowing without leaving the virtual world. This addition marks another step in Meta’s strategy to integrate its social platforms across emerging hardware.

Why it matters
