Meta temporarily disables No Kings protest group's Instagram amid election rally

Meta briefly blocked the Instagram account of the anti-Trump protest group No Kings, prompting accusations of censorship ahead of the midterm elections.

During a recent pro-democracy demonstration, Meta temporarily disabled the Instagram account of the No Kings Coalition, a movement that arranges anti-Trump protests. The company said an automated enforcement tool mistakenly suspended the page because of rapid posting, sharing or commenting. Andy Stone, a Meta spokesperson, apologized on X, stating the issue was resolved and access restored.

The organizers, who have run similar rallies for years, criticized the timing, calling it unacceptable to curb voting-related messaging in an election cycle. They also claimed the suspension was disproportionate, noting only a few posts were made while thousands watched the live stream. The group continues to plan events despite the technical hiccup, highlighting broader concerns over voter-rights legislation and election integrity.
