Meta to Replace Google Chat with Slack for Internal AI Agent Collaboration

Meta’s AI leader Alexandr Wang circulated a memo stating the company will transition its internal communications from Google Chat to Slack. The rationale centers on Slack’s advanced conversational UI, well-established developer framework, and a wide array of third-party integrations that facilitate AI agent deployment. While not every team is creating agents now, the move aims to provide a useful agent environment for the entire workforce.

Salesforce, which acquired Slack for $27.7 billion in 2021, stands to gain from the shift as it pushes deeper into AI features. Both Meta and Salesforce declined to comment, and Google did not respond to a request for comment. The migration underscores Slack’s growing role in the AI-agent market and follows a recent surge in Salesforce’s stock after an expanded partnership with Anthropic.
