Metlen signs long-term gallium supply deal with leading Japanese chemical firm
Metlen announced a multi-year contract to deliver up to 16% of its planned annual gallium output to a top Japanese chemical company, securing future sales before the plant starts operating.
Metlen disclosed that it has entered a long-term supply agreement with a major Japanese chemical company for future gallium deliveries. The contract commits up to 16% of the total annual gallium production planned at Metlen’s new Greek plant, which is in an advanced construction phase and slated to start output in Q3 2027. While the financial and pricing details are kept confidential, the partnership marks the second strategic gallium deal for Metlen, highlighting strong international interest in a secure European supply chain.
Company executives emphasized that the agreement strengthens Greece’s role as a hub for critical raw materials and supports Europe’s strategic positioning in high-tech value chains. Metlen’s executive president, Ευάγγελος Μυτιληναίος, said the arrangement confirms global industry confidence in the company’s integrated production model. The deal effectively pre-sells a portion of the plant’s intended 50 MT annual capacity well before commercial launch.
