Mexican TikTok star and family found dead in alleged murder-suicide

TikTok influencer Cindy Tamez, her partner Leodegario Moya and their three children were discovered shot dead in Montemorelos, with prosecutors treating the case as a murder-suicide.

Cindy Tamez, known on TikTok for fashion videos and a following of more than 74,000, was discovered dead with her two-year-old son Gustavo inside her vehicle in Montemorelos, Mexico, on September 30, alongside a handgun. Close by, her partner Leodegario Moya and their two older children, Christian, 12, and Bruno, 11, were found shot dead in their residence. Prosecutors are treating the incident as a murder-suicide, suspecting Tamez carried out the killings before ending her own life, though the case is still under investigation.

The incident comes weeks after the livestream shooting death of influencer César Gastélum in Culiacán, highlighting rising violence affecting social media personalities in Mexico. Tamez's final TikTok post, shared the day of her death, contained a disturbing message about her “nasty side.” The broader context includes ongoing cartel-related violence in the region, which has prompted travel advisories from the U.S. State Department.
