A California-based food producer, Mezzetta, issued a voluntary recall of its 32-ounce golden Greek peperoncini, medium heat, after a TikTok video revealed a dead mouse inside a jar. The video, posted on September 16, featured a woman preparing a Mississippi-style pot roast when she discovered the contaminant. Mezzetta notified the Food and Drug Administration and said it has not received any reports of illness linked to the product.
The company identified the customers who received the recalled jars and is coordinating with them to pull the items from retail shelves. It also requested the original contaminated jar for further investigation. No additional health incidents have been reported to date.
