Michael Flatley's wife Niamh, 52, passes away after long illness
Niamh Flatley, the 52-year-old spouse of dancer Michael Flatley, has died, prompting a heartfelt statement from her husband.
Michael Flatley confirmed the death of his wife, Niamh Flatley, aged 52, in an emotional online message, calling her his "beautiful wife" and "best friend." The pair married in Fermoy, Co Cork, in 2006 and welcomed their son Michael St James the following year. Niamh, originally from Co. Meath, began dancing at three and performed with Riverdance, Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames and the Celtic Tiger.
Despite a prolonged illness, she remained involved in Flatley's touring productions, working with costume designers and dancers. She was scheduled to fly to the United States for specialist treatment when she passed away. Friends describe Flatley as "utterly grief-stricken" after spending countless hours caring for her.
