Michael Steele accuses Republicans of neglecting U.S. service members

On MS NOW’s “Deadline,” Michael Steele claimed that Republicans show little concern for the welfare of military personnel.

Michael Steele, appearing on MS NOW’s “Deadline,” asserted that Republicans no longer prioritize the men and women serving in the U.S. military. He labeled the current Congress as inept and warned that its actions pose a danger to the American public. Steele contrasted past Republican advocacy for the armed forces with what he sees as present indifference, calling the military a mere pawn in political games.

He highlighted the lack of Republican condemnation regarding the incident aboard the ship Lincoln and demanded accountability from the administration and the Defense Department. Steele further suggested that the Secretary of Defense cannot directly address sailors because his only support comes from Donald Trump, who controls his access.

Why it matters

The remarks highlight internal GOP criticism of defense policy and could influence public perception of military support.
