Michigan Fair Elections Institute Publishes 720-Page Review of 2020 Vote and Calls for New Probes

The Michigan Fair Elections Institute released a 720-page report analyzing the 2020 Michigan election and urging federal and state investigations.

A comprehensive 720-page study by the Michigan Fair Elections Institute scrutinizes the administration of the 2020 Michigan election and the subsequent six years of reforms. Drawing on statutes, court decisions, sworn testimony, official records and FOIA-obtained files, the report outlines 15 specific issues, including voter-roll upkeep, absentee ballot handling, and the consolidation of election authority in the executive branch.

It argues that recent moves to centralize election processes in Lansing exceed legal authority and echo concerns raised in a July letter from the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division to Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. Founder Patrice Johnson says the findings should prompt immediate federal and state investigations and guide legislative action ahead of the 2026 election, emphasizing the need for transparency and citizen oversight to restore confidence.
