Michigan Senate Leader Jeremy Moss Denies Manipulated Hot-Mic Remarks on Israel

Jeremy Moss, serving his second term and currently president pro tempore of the Michigan Senate, secured the Democratic nomination for Michigan’s 11th congressional district and now faces scrutiny over a hot-mic recording posted by his primary rival Aisha Farooqi. The clip, shared on X on July 21, suggests Moss said his campaign’s sole aim is to keep America backing Israel and that “America is not our homeland.” Moss responded to one outlet inquiry by labeling the audio “manipulated and unsourced,” insisting the statements were never made and that the release exploits anti-American and anti-Jewish tropes.

He highlighted his legislative priorities, including protecting voting rights, dismantling ICE, and lowering health-care costs, while rejecting accusations of dual loyalty. Republican Troy mayor Ethan Baker called for Moss to explain the alleged comments, arguing a congressperson must balance diverse interests. The dispute unfolds as Moss prepares to run for the seat vacated by Rep. Haley Stevens, who is pursuing a Senate bid.
