Micron announces up to 68‑month bonuses for Taiwan staff as Taiwan pushes silicon photonics and deepens chip‑packaging ties with Lithuania

Micron Technology said it will give bonuses equal to 35‑68 months of salary to its employees for fiscal 2026, with Taiwanese staff receiving at least NT$1.7 million and entry‑level engineers expected to earn around NT$2.9 million in total compensation. The incentive package was disclosed after the Micron Taiwan union announced strike plans over perceived lower bonuses compared with rivals. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs is promoting silicon photonics and copackaged optics as part of its New 10 Major AI Infrastructure Projects, with more than 30 firms forming a Silicon Photonics Industry Alliance. In addition, Taiwan and Lithuania signed a memorandum of understanding to develop advanced chip‑packaging equipment, combining Lithuanian laser expertise with Taiwanese AI and imaging strengths.
