Microsoft expands Copilot app with Office integration, code builder and automation tabs

Microsoft rolled out a refreshed version of its Copilot app, introducing a three-tab interface designed to make the AI assistant more useful for both consumers and enterprises. The Home tab hosts regular chat interactions and will eventually direct queries to either simple chat or the deeper Copilot mode based on complexity. The Code tab allows users to request small applications, dashboards or automation scripts using natural language, with the AI generating the necessary code.

The Autopilot tab provides agentic capabilities, letting Copilot autonomously manage tasks like scheduling, meeting preparation and stakeholder follow-ups. Jared Spataro, Microsoft’s chief marketing officer of AI at Work, said the new features let the assistant build everything from desktop widgets to full supplier review processes on its own.
