Microsoft rolls out pay-as-you-go Xbox Cloud Gaming starting at $3.99

Microsoft is offering Xbox Cloud Gaming on a pay-as-you-go basis, with 10-hour bundles priced at $3.99 for users without a Game Pass subscription.

Microsoft announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be accessible to anyone in November without requiring an Xbox Game Pass subscription. Users can now buy prepaid cloud-playtime bundles, starting at $3.99 for ten hours, with larger packages at $7.99 for twenty-five hours and $11.99 for fifty hours. All bundles deliver ad-free gameplay, reduced wait times and higher-quality streaming, and the purchased hours do not expire until they are consumed.

The rollout is timed for the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, but the company indicated the title will not be available on PC browsers or apps. Additionally, Microsoft continues to trial a free, ad-supported cloud service for Xbox Insiders, allowing owners to stream their own games for up to one hour per session.

Why it matters

It gives gamers a low-cost entry to cloud gaming and expands Microsoft's reach beyond Game Pass subscribers.
