Microsoft's Office and Teams leader Ryan Roslansky departs after 18 years

Ryan Roslansky is leaving Microsoft, prompting a reshuffle of the Office and Teams leadership.

Ryan Roslansky, who spent almost 18 years at LinkedIn before moving to Microsoft, has decided to leave the company, explaining that a full-time presence in Redmond would conflict with his family life in the Bay Area. In an internal memo, Satya Nadella highlighted Roslansky's role in uniting product, engineering and design for the next phase of Office and Teams, especially around the recently announced Copilot platform.

Microsoft will shift the Office and Teams teams to Charles Lamanna as part of the Copilot, Agents, and Platform organization. The move follows the earlier retirement of Rajesh Jha and a reassignment of chief design officer Jon Friedman to report to Copilot chief Jacob Andreou. Dan Shapero continues as LinkedIn CEO, reporting directly to Nadella. Roslansky's departure marks the second major leadership shuffle in Microsoft's productivity suite this year.

Why it matters

The exit of a key executive reshapes Microsoft's strategy for its core productivity tools and AI-driven Copilot.
