Microsoft unveils Project Zenith, a streamlined Windows setup for developers

Microsoft announced Project Zenith, a developer-focused Windows experience that ships on devices equipped with AMD Ryzen AI Halo processors. These machines come with a curated set of tools—including Visual Studio Code, GitHub Copilot, PowerToys, WinAppCLI, and Windows Dev Skills—pre-installed for immediate use. The operating system is tuned for productivity, showing file extensions, hidden files, full paths, and enabling long-path support while turning off recent-file shortcuts, sync tips, and start-menu notifications.

The PowerToys Command Palette is activated by default. Microsoft says the initiative reflects feedback from developers and aims to keep Windows aligned with evolving AI-driven software creation. More models with different silicon are slated for release in the upcoming months.
