Migrants Bypass German Border Checks via Unmonitored Rural Routes
Official data show thousands of asylum seekers were turned away at controlled borders, yet most applications arrived through unguarded roads and fields.
The government praised its border enforcement, yet Federal Police figures reveal that in the first half of 2026 more than 20,000 foreigners were stopped at land borders, with additional refusals at airports and sea borders.
