MIHAS 2026 Serves as Hub for Malaysia-China Halal Trade Partnerships

The Malaysia International Halal Showcase is being promoted as a practical bridge for Malaysian and Chinese entrepreneurs, with Perak durian products highlighted for China.

At MIHAS 2026, Sophia Ma, a member of the MEEDC supreme advisory council, described the event as a practical platform to link Malaysian and Chinese halal entrepreneurs. She highlighted the export prospects of durian-derived products from Perak, citing China’s vast consumer base. Ma also suggested Chinese companies could supply advanced, ventilated fabrics to Malaysia, leveraging technologies such as rare-earth elements.

Organized by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, the showcase runs from Sept 23-26, featuring 2,000 booths, 1,700 exhibitors and 450 international buyers from 58 nations. Attendance has reached 30,000 and is on track to meet the 50,000 target, with a goal of generating over RM5 billion in business. The event’s theme, “Shaping Trust, Driving Resilience,” underscores its aim to expand global halal market access.

Why it matters

The showcase could boost Malaysia's halal exports and deepen trade ties with China, impacting both economies.
