Mimi’s Cafe shutters Folsom location as chain trims over 100 sites

Mimi’s Cafe, a California-originated diner with a French bistro theme, ceased operations at its Folsom, California location on Aug. 16, adding to a series of closures that total more than one hundred since the brand was sold in 2013. The chain, which began near Disneyland almost fifty years ago, now operates just 39 restaurants across ten states, a steep decline from its former footprint. Northern California, once a strong market for the brand, is left with only one remaining site in Elk Grove after recent exits in Arden Arcade, Roseville and South Natomas.

Groupe Le Duff, the France-based owner, has not issued an official statement explaining the reductions. The Folsom venue’s interior and kitchen equipment are being sold in an online auction that ends on Aug. 26.
