Ministry advises against outdoor play in childcare centres amid haze
The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry said no childcare centres will be shut, but outdoor activities must stop because of haze.
During a press briefing in Kuching, the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry announced that no blanket closure of taska will be imposed despite the ongoing haze. However, all outdoor activities for children are to be suspended to limit exposure to polluted air. Minister Nancy Shukri said the decision balances the need of working parents who rely on these services with health concerns.
Parents retain the choice to send children to centres, particularly in districts where schools have been ordered to close after API spikes. She suggested coordination with employers and centre operators to implement safety steps and recommended medical examinations for any child showing haze-related symptoms.
