Ministry supplies millions of liters of water to drought-hit areas in Central and East Java

Speaking in Jakarta, Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasized the urgency of clean water for communities suffering from drought. The ministry’s Central Java Center for Building, Infrastructure and Area Development supplied roughly 22.77 million liters across 12 affected areas, benefiting around 314,000 people; notable allocations include 7.4 million liters for Cilacap’s 93,000 residents and 1.2 million liters for about 5,149 people in Pekalongan.

In East Java, fifteen tanker trucks provided water to an estimated 58,000 residents, with specific deliveries of 88,000 liters to Kunjorowesi Village, 52,000 liters to Duyung, and 56,000 liters to Pamekasan District. The ministry works alongside provincial and district disaster management agencies to tailor assistance, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s call to mitigate El Niño impacts.
