Misdemeanor gun charges dismissed for man arrested at California Trump rally

In October 2024, Vem Miller was detained outside a Donald Trump rally in Coachella after deputies discovered two loaded firearms and a high-capacity magazine in his vehicle. He entered the Riverside County misdemeanor diversion program, which mandated an eight-hour gun-safety class, a four-hour online life-skills course and 40 hours of community service. After completing these obligations, a Superior Court judge dismissed the misdemeanor gun charges and sealed his arrest record on July 31.

Miller, who runs the America Happens Network, has filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Chad Bianco alleging libel, slander and defamation over claims that his actions constituted a third assassination attempt on Trump. The sheriff’s office declined to comment, while the district attorney’s spokesperson confirmed the dismissal. No federal charges were ever filed, and the Secret Service and FBI concluded Trump faced no danger.
