Missile strike on Belgorod kills two, injures dozens and hits Ozon sites
A missile hit Belgorod, killing two people and wounding 16, while also damaging facilities owned by online retailer Ozon, officials said.
Acting governor Alexander Shuvayev announced on Telegram that a missile strike on Belgorod, a city near the Ukrainian border, killed two residents and injured 16 others. The attack also ignited seven warehouses and hit a logistics hub and sorting facility belonging to the e-commerce company Ozon, which confirmed a fire and injuries at its site. Authorities have not clarified if the governor’s description of the damaged sites matches Ozon’s statement.
The assault comes amid ongoing retaliatory strikes between Russia and Ukraine, which have recently included a Russian drone attack that caused a large explosion at an ammunition depot near Kyiv, killing at least 38 people. Both sides claim they avoid targeting civilians while repeatedly hitting each other's infrastructure. One outlet was unable to independently verify the damage reports. Separately, Russia’s largest bank Sberbank approved a restructuring of 6.8 billion roubles in loans for traders using Ozon and rival Wildberries platforms.
